THE CITY OF ESCH-SUR-ALZETTE
From July 16th to July 23th the city of Esch-sur-Alzette has the great pleasure to host an international outdoor tennis event of he ITF WORLD TENNIS TOUR, offering $25.000 price money.
It's the third edition of the Sudstroum Open tennis tournament with a price money of 25.000$.
Esch-sur-Alzette is located in the south-west of Luxembourg near to the french border ( 3 km ) ( Meurthe et Moselle department ), the second largest town of the country is situated south to Luxembourg City ( 17 km ) and 25 km from Luxembourg International Airport (FINDEL). Esch-sur Alzette, also called Esch/Alzette, is easily accessible by any facility of transport.
The city with more than 35.000 inhabitants is very cosmopolitan, 40% of the population are foreigners.
TENNIS CLUB ESCH – THE HOST CLUB
For the Tennis Club Esch , founded in 1934, it will be its 1st international tournament of the Professional Circuit ( ITF/ATP/WTA ).
The Club organizes since several years 2 ITF Tournaments for Seniors ( February and November ).
Tennis was played in Esch since 1906, several sportclubs had created an association of different sports. Its name was FOLA ( Football and Lawn Tennis )
In 1950, the club moved from Parc Laval to the « GALGEBIERG », its actual site. Galgebierg is a recreation centre with a beautiful park, play grounds, an animal park, a lot of sports facilities and a caravan and camping aerea.
ITS FACILITIES
The club rules actually 7 tennis courts, 5 clay courts and 2 synthetic courts, a club house with offices and locker rooms.
A restaurant , « Il Belvedere » offers gastronomic specialities from Luxembourg,France and Italy.
A gym, accessible for the players, is located 100m from the venue.
